Sum'wunz eff'n wit da Brits
from 7-Jun-2008
8pm at Bromsgrove, Worcs:“I ignored them, thinking they were satellites."11pm at Tern Hill barracks:"But when I looked closer it was clear they weren’t. I’m not into sci-fi, but they weren’t from this planet.

“I was on duty in the guard room when the other boys outside began shouting. I went out to see what the commotion was about and could see thirteen craft in the skies."“They were zig-zagging, but I filmed two before they disappeared. They were like rotating cubes with multiple colours."
-- Cpl Proctor, 38, of the 1st Battalion Irish Regiment
UK police helicopter pilot almost collided with something -- gave chase as far as the Bristol Channel before running low on fuel and turning back.
The South Wales police admit that the report is legit. "We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft," a spokesperson said. "This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation."

Why Not?
Why doesn't someone put http://verticalfarm.com/ and http://ls9.com/ together in a room and tell 'em they can't come out 'til they solve our energy problems?

I just realized ...
The number of people voting for Barack Obama just because he's black almost certainly will exceed the number who will vote against him for the exact same reason (both groups represeting a small and ignorant sliver of the population).
"Hey Luntz, you're an idiot!"
OK -- I just noticed an article which proclaimed the following bullshit:
Oh! BTW-IMHO & AFAIK: Luntz had nothing at all to do with that atrocious Rasmussen survey and is, actually, far from an idiot, but ... he has probably done more to empower them than anyone else in history.
"Nearly half of Americans (49%) believe that the federal government should regulate the Internet the same way it does radio and television, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national survey."Nearby comments directed me to the following YouTube clip:(the clip, appropropriately enough, is from Penn & Teller's fantastic gig on Showtime: "Bullsh!t" -- a really great program)

The Cheapo Challenge
I was reading this post from Politico and think I've come up with an interesting challenge for Mr. McCain:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11242.html
Here's the challenge: McCain needs to come up with a campaign that's spread via a really cheap commercial. Perhaps not even on primetime network TV. The sole message of this campaign should be oriented towards reminding folks how much money Barack is throwing into his campaign commercials. The idea would be to evoke John McCain's message in the viewer everytime (s)he sees a glossy ad for Barack.
Not sure precisely how one would do this, but I'm gonna think about it some. Not that I have any great love of McCain, but I do enjoy a challenge.
